SINGAPORE, 1 DECEMBER 2008 - Natural disaster relief work and Olympic Games communications networking support has won wireless communications vendor, Andrew, an award from the China Association of Communication Enterprises.

The organisation received the ‘Award for Best Service Teamwork’ at the recent 4th China Communication Network Operation and Maintenance Conference in Beijing.

Snowstorms and earthquake

At the ceremony, Andrew's efforts in helping China restore wireless communications after huge snowstorms in Chenzhou, Hunan province and the devastating Sichuan earthquake were highlighted by the organisers.

Aiding China Mobile, Andrew's engineers volunteered to assist with some of the most remote sites under extremely harsh conditions, which included travel by foot over mountains for a dozen hours every day while carrying heavy equipment.

Andrew also answered China Mobile's request for support after the devastating Sichuan earthquake. Andrew quickly donated antenna and cable systems to assist in restoration of wireless communications services in the affected areas and to assist communications by rescue and recovery crews.
