Software management company CA says IT can meet economic challenges By Ross O. Storey
08 Oct 2008

SINGAPORE, 8 OCTOBER 2008 - US IT management software company CA has urged Asia Pacific companies to leverage IT for sustaining business growth, despite today’s increasingly uncertain economic conditions.

CA made the call at the launch of a package of data centre, enterprise IT management and governance solutions, including the CA Data Centre Automation Manager and enhancements to nine additional Enterprise IT Management (EITM) and Governance solutions.

Gavin Selkirk, CA’s Corporate Senior Vice President and General Manager for the Asia Pacific and Japan, said that today’s global financial turmoil meant that, more than ever, IT needed to support the business with flexible, cost-efficient service delivery and support.

He said enterprises needed to adapt to change, capitalize on new opportunities and control costs.

Supporting growth opportunities

“Management software such as CA’s EITM and Governance solutions address key requirements including infrastructure management, service management, and automation to help IT align with the business and hold down operational costs while also supporting new growth opportunities,” Selkirk said.

“These latest CA solutions address the IT management challenges, which have become even more relevant in view of today’s economic climate, include optimizing virtualized and physical data centers for increased agility and efficiency. Customers of our solutions can better adapt to change, capitalize on new opportunities and achieve greater business alignment while controlling costs.”

Selkirk said that by combining leading technology, industry expertise, integration across heterogeneous environments on distributed and mainframe platforms and a global partner ecosystem, CA helped customers to govern, manage and secure IT.

Growth despite downturn

Research house IDC’s vice president, System Management Software Research Tim Grieser supported CA’s call for growth preparation, despite the downturn.

“More than ever, IT needs to support the business with flexible, cost-efficient service delivery and support,” Grieser said. “Management software such as CA’s EITM and Governance solutions address key requirements including infrastructure management, service management, and automation to help IT align with the business and hold down operational costs while also supporting new growth opportunities.”

Ajei Gopal, executive vice president of CA's EITM Group, said that effectively managed IT was central to the success of any organization, especially in today’s challenging economic climate.

“CA’s new and enhanced EITM solutions improve the economics of IT for our customers by giving them the flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing economic conditions and the agility to seize new business opportunities,” Gopal said. “At the same time, with CA’s solutions, organizations can better control costs and manage risk more effectively than ever before.”
