Sets up own International gateways in India By Zafar Anjum
23 Jan 2009

SINGAPORE, 23 JANUARY 2009 -- Cable&Wireless Europe, Asia & US has launched its Next Generation Network known as the Multi-Service Platform (MSP) in India.

The international communications company said that this roll out has made it the first international telecom provider to receive all necessary security clearances from the government of India, enabling it to launch advanced IP-based solutions.

Cable&Wireless has operated in India since 1995, providing enterprise and carrier telecommunication solutions to the largest users of telecoms services across the globe.

High quality Managed IP Services

Multi-national and local customers will now be able to benefit from high quality managed IP services, such as Ethernet-based solutions, value-added communications applications, and International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC), said the communications company.

The company said that it has invested US$30 million in the last nine months in building this new MSP network in India, which will form part of the company’s core backbone allowing connectivity to its vast global network across Asia Pacific, Europe and North America.

Cable&Wireless will begin migrating customers to the new platform from February 2009 onwards, it said.

Supporting more than 150 multinational and Indian customers, the new network will have multiple levels of transmission and cable redundancies to ensure seamless business continuity to the customers, the company said. The platform will help protect businesses from network failures such as the recent under-sea cable breaks near Alexandria, Egypt, that disrupted services across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. The new network has been designed to deliver sub-second rerouting of traffic via alternative cable systems, ensuring minimal impact to businesses should any cable failure occur, it added.
