HONG KONG, 3 FEBRUARY 2009 – DHL, an international express and logistics company, has recently launched a Web-based tool to track shipments real-time.

DHL ProView is an online shipping tool that allows customers to track shipments in real time at all stages of delivery from anywhere in the world. Instead of airway bill numbers, shipments are tracked and monitored using designated account numbers.

Real-time shipment updates

Customers receive proactive updates on their shipments activity, when they have been delivered and picked up, via e-mail alerts or SMS messages, resulting in better control of their shipments and visibility.

Customers can also save time with access to complete shipment information with the input of a single account number, manage high priority shipments by setting customised options and improve operational efficiency by selecting the employee who should receive shipment activity reports.

ProView operates in real time and therefore enables customers to track shipments through all stages of delivery, monitor and address on-time issues on demand, from the convenience of the office, home or while on the move.

Increase shipment visibility

With ProView, tracking is not limited to only delivery notification, but also includes shipment visibility such as in-transit, custom clearance or delay etc. A further benefit to users is being able to provide shipment activity reports for distribution centres, customers and trading partners outside their organisation, thereby greatly improving efficiency and work flow.

The introduction of this service in Asia Pacific follows the successful launch in the US in 2006. It is available for free to all DHL account customers. Up to 1,999 different shipment accounts can be registered for one person. One customer account can be tracked at the same time by different users.

ProView is among several other online tools that DHL has launched in recent years. In October 2007, the company was the first in the industry to launch a patented electronic service, DHL emailShip, in Singapore and across markets in Asia Pacific, that enables customers to file their shipment details electronically. The service allows airway bills and other required paperwork to be prepared offline using the Adobe Acrobat PDF or Microsoft Excel format, and submitted to DHL via e-mail.
