Hong Kong chief government information officer led ICT industry delegates to Australia for closer co-operation. By Carol Ko

HONG KONG, 13 NOVEMBER 2008 – The Hong Kong government chief information officer, Jeremy Godfrey, this week led a delegation from the information and communications technology industry to Australia to foster cross-border co-operation.

The five-day visit to Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney in Australia also aims to raise Hong Kong’s profile in the ICT arena.

During the visit, the delegation will attend seminars organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council for Australia’s trade associations in the respective cities. Godfrey will share views on how Hong Kong can act as a gateway for Australia to tap into the huge ICT market in mainland China, and how Hong Kong and mainland China can complement each other to become a destination for software outsourcing.

The Hong Kong government chief information officer will call on a number of government departments in Australia and witness the signing of memorandum of understandings between the industry bodies of Hong Kong and Australia to facilitate further ICT collaboration and trading between the two countries.

The delegation also planned to visit a number of leading ICT companies in Australia to understand of latest developments in Australia. Networking meetings will be arranged between companies from the two countries to explore business opportunities.
