KUALA LUMPUR, 12 JANUARY 2010 – Technology giant IBM has announced the appointment of a new managing director for Malaysia, as part of the company’s continuing commitment to Malaysia, it said.

IBM ASEAN general manager Cordelia Chung said the appointment of Ramanathan Sathiamutty as managing director of IBM Malaysia, effective immediately, was to replace Ou Shian Waei who will be retiring. “Prior to this appointment, Rama served as IBM ASEAN general manager, communications sector.”  

Following his retirement from the company, IBM will retain Ou as advisor, global missions integration and government strategy. “These moves demonstrate IBM’s commitment to leadership development and renewal,” said Chung.

“Ou has contributed significantly to IBM Malaysia's success,” she added. “His focus on delivering client value, deep business insights and outstanding leadership has been instrumental in building our business.”

“Rama is an exceptional business and sales leader with tremendous leadership skills, dedication to every client's success and a track record of success which make him the natural choice for this key leadership position,” Chung said.

“It's a great time to be returning to IBM Malaysia,” said Sathiamutty. “The country is driving an accelerated growth and innovation agenda and I'm truly excited about the opportunity to collaborate with clients across industries to build smarter ways of working in this new environment.”
