MALAYSIA, 11 December 2008 – In an effort to boost its presence in the Asian supply chain market, RFID technology firm Intermec has appointed Malaysian firm ESC Pericomp to distribute its product range.

Intermec Technologies Asia vice president and general manager, Jansen Ek, said this partnership will help the company penetrate Malaysia’s growing supply chain industry.

“ECS Pericomp, a subsidiary of the Singapore-listed ECS Holdings group, will market a comprehensive range of Intermec’s products, ranging from RFID, automatic identification data capture (AIDC) equipment, wireless networks, bar code printing to media technology solutions,” said Ek.

Intermec develops, manufactures and integrates technologies that identify, track and manage supply chain assets. Core technologies include radio frequency identification (RFID), mobile computing and data collection systems, bar code printers and label media.

Cutting-edge technology

“ECS has always viewed Intermec as the market leader in supply chain solutions, with its cutting-edge RFID technology development and AIDC products,” said ECS Pericomp managing director Foo Sen Chin. “We believe the partnership adds to our current enterprise offerings by presenting us burgeoning opportunities in supply chain industries.”

Added Ek: “The partnership adds a significant dimension to ECS Pericomp’s vast product and service portfolio and is targeted at the country’s growing supply chain industry.”
