22 Jan 2010

CHINA, 22 JANUARY 2010 – The Hong Kong ICT awards 2009 have recognised the China Hong Kong chapter of ISACA, a global non-profit association that is dedicated to serving over 86,000 IT governance professionals across 160 nations.

The judging panel elected ISACA’s certified information systems auditor (CISA) certification programme to be given the “best professional development grand award”. This programme was chosen as the gold award winner for the “best professional development (scheme) award” category.

Contribution in Hong Kong

Michael Yung, president of ISACA China Hong Kong chapter, said these awards are very significant because they recognise the organisation’s commitment to professional development.

CISA is one of the most sought-after qualifications for professionals engaged in the following fields: information systems audit, control and security. The China Hong Kong chapter has strived to promote the qualification and organised monthly sharing seminars for the professionals.

These seminars have been focused to update the knowledge of these professionals and ultimately boosted the standard of IT governance in a variety of business sectors in Hong Kong.

Success of CISA

This award validates the success of the CISA certification programme that is known across the world as the global standard for information system (IS) audit, control and security professionals, noted Yung. In addition to acknowledging ISACA’s contribution in Hong Kong, these awards recognise the fellow information and communication technologies (ICT) professionals who are certified with the CISA designation.

The membership of ISACA China Hong Kong chapter is quite impressive with more than 3,500 participants. This chapter has worked hard for the success of the CISA programme locally, and the efforts have paid off.

From more than 70,000 CISAs worldwide, over 2,500 titles are earned in China and Hong Kong. About 1,000 professionals participate in the CISA programme each year in Hong Kong, according to ISACA officials.
