KUALA LUMPUR, 23 APRIL 2009 -- Local companies can make every cent count by using the new release of the new transportation management solution, according to Oracle Malaysia.

Oracle Malaysia managing director K. Raman said the new release of Oracle Transportation Management 6.0 would help local and international companies in Malaysia streamline transportation planning, execution, visibility and business process automation across all modes of transportation.

"In addition, with this latest release, Oracle delivers Oracle Fleet Management, the industry’s first combined shipment and asset-centric transportation solution that enables companies to manage private fleet and common carrier networks on a single platform for increased asset utilisation, lower transportation costs and reduced environmental impact," said Raman.

“The fleet management solution supports broader fleet processes beyond transportation planning and execution, including order management, asset management, driver/contractor management and financial settlement," he added. “Companies will be able to reduce overall fuel costs and associated emissions, improve asset utilisation, tracking and lifecycle management, as well as gain greater insight into fleet operations through driver dispatch, mobile communications and asset tracking."

Malaysia's manufacturing and services-centric economy

“Effective transportation management increasingly demands that companies be able to control, and manage, both their own fleets as well as for-hire carriers,” said Gartner Research vice president, Dwight Klappich. “We find that the current difficult economic climate is placing extra emphasis on the need for transportation and fleet management tools to help control costs while managing assets and resources."

“Given Malaysia’s manufacturing and services-centric economy, efficient transportation and logistics can significantly impact operational cost savings for both domestic and multinational players, in order to make every cent count,” said Raman. “Oracle’s unique consolidation of shipment and asset-centric transportation solution in one package provides business intelligence and insight to meet virtually any vertical industry requirement."
