KUALA LUMPUR, 23 NOVEMBER 2009 – Malaysian government ICT agency MDeC (Multimedia Development Corporation) wants the best local and international digital content talent to exchange insights on emerging media at its first MSC Malaysia Kre8tif! Digital Content Conference.
“The idea of having the Kre8tif! Conference originated from the desire to further promote and develop the digital creative content industry, while profiling Malaysia as a strategic location to identify potential collaboration opportunities, recruit talent, outsource and engage with co-production partners,” said MDeC vice president, industry development division, Saifol Shamlan.
Saifol said Kre8tif! Conference, which is to be held in Kuala Lumpur from 7-9 December, is part of the MAC3 initiative.
“[It is] in line with the MSC Malaysia Creative Content Centre (MAC3) programme launched a few months back, and we at MDeC are excited to be spearheading the first-ever conference of this nature and have confidence that this will be a starting point for other similar conferences in time to come,” he said.
Themed ‘Infinite Minds, Unlimited Passion’, the conference is expected to draw more than 20 acclaimed international and local experts in the field, he added.
“With the stellar line-up of speakers and activities, we look forward to host and enrich over 500 participants for the conference and up the ante in Malaysia's digital creative content industry,” said Saifol.
The three-day Kre8tif! Conference (www.mscmalaysia.my/topic/kre8tif) will focus on four key areas; namely, digital arts, games, visual effects (VFX) and emerging media. Highlights of the conference include keynote addresses by thought-leaders and industry experts, networking sessions, business and technical workshops, company portfolio showcases and exhibitions, and screening of professional work.
‘Best in the creative industry’
“We have chosen only the best in the creative industry and this is something our participants can look forward to,” said MDeC head of global profiling and portfolio, creative multimedia cluster, Hasnul Nadzrin Shah.
“Participants of the Kre8tif! Conference can expect to engage with well-known personalities such as David Abramowitz; producer and writer of ‘21 Jump Street’, ‘V’ and ‘Macgyver’ as well as the creative force behind the hit TV series ‘Highlander’,” said Hasnul.
“In addition, other speakers would include Guillaume de Fondaumiere, co-CEO of Quantic Dream and chairman of the European Games Developer Federation (EGDF), which produced ‘Fahrenheit,’ a worldwide critically acclaimed adventure game, as well as Astro Entertainment executive director, Zainir Aminullah, and Animation Magazine editor-in-chief, Ramin Zahed.”
