KUALA LUMPUR, 26 JANUARY 2010 - Malaysian government agency for ICT, MDeC has engaged technology giant IBM Malaysia to help build a dynamic infrastructure to enhance the growth of the creative and entertainment industry in the country.

Under the agreement, which was signed in November 2009, IBM solutions would be used to provide better business value and increase system capacity for animation houses and independent developers to produce animation, games and visual effects, said representatives from both organisations.

IBM would provide MDeC [Multimedia Development Corporation] with its servers, storage solutions, software, animation applications, infrastructure services, data centre hosting and consulting services.

MDeC launched the Malaysia Animation and Creative Content Centre (MAC3), to help power the country's creative digital content industry. MDeC representatives said
MAC3's aim is to help and inspire artists, scientists and the general public in the opportunities in content creation and commercialisation, including funding for co-production of animation, games and visual effects.
