KUALA LUMPUR, 20 APRIL 2009 – Meeting Asian business needs in today’s economic downturn is the key to success, according to power and cooling services firm APC by Schneider Electric, which has won a Frost & Sullivan award.
“Our strength lies in our ability to solve the real business needs and problems around power and energy management for our customers in the region,” said APC vice president, ASEAN, Khoo Teng Seen (TS), on receiving the Frost & Sullivan 2009 South East Asia Industrial Technologies Award for Market Share Leadership in the South East Asia UPS Markets, which includes both single- and three-phase UPS sectors.
“To be successful, businesses face challenges surrounding power, cooling, and managing applications for which they require specific expertise,” said Malaysia-based Khoo, who was recently appointed his regional role. “More and more, energy-efficiency is on top of the priority list.”
“Our customers are simply trying to make today’s technology support their business requirements,” he added. “Our domain knowledge is concentrated on energy efficiency and our solutions include a wide range of products, which cater to data centres, desktops, as well as the factory floor, thus freeing our customers’ time to focus on their business.”
APC by Schneider Electric provides critical power and cooling services’ products, software and systems for home, office, data centre and factory floor applications. In 2007, Schneider Electric acquired APC and combined it with MGE UPS Systems to form Schneider Electric's Critical Power & Cooling Services Business Unit, which recorded revenue of US$3.5 billion in 2007 and employed 12,000 people worldwide.
Integration of business has given competitive advantage
"APC by Schneider has emerged as the clear market leader in the Southeast Asia UPS market because of a combination of factors such as a wide range of product offerings, the ability to package complete power and cooling solutions, strategic marketing initiatives, and customer centric sales infrastructure,” said Frost & Sullivan programme manager, Asia Pacific energy and power systems practice, Srivatsan MR.
“The successful integration of the popular single phase business of the erstwhile APC with the three phase and industrial solutions of the former MGE, has given the organisation a unique competitive advantage and unrivalled access to channels and customers, placing them in the number one position,” he added.
“This award is an affirmation that we are on the right track with our relentless focus on helping our customers make the most of their energy,” said APC’s Khoo. “All of us have worked tirelessly to advocate efficient power and cooling solutions.”
