New IP platform to help tailor communications, says NEC By AvantiKumar

KUALA LUMPUR, 28 NOVEMBER 2008 - NEC has announced a new IP platform to help small and medium enterprises better cater for their communication needs.

NEC Malaysia’s managing director, Daisaku Takeuchi, said the new communication servers—UNIVERGE SV8100 and UNIVERGE SV8300 would help SMEs tailor communications’ needs on user roles, rather than having technology dictate how users communicate.

“The communication servers would provide a roadmap and investment protection for current NEC customers while offering a secure and robust platform for new customers to begin unifying their business communications,” said Takeuchi. “Combining with our new line up of the UNIVERGE IP (Internet Protocol) communication server series and new IP and digital terminals, businesses can change the way they communicate. Offering a state-of the-art solution, it is feature-rich, scalable and offers investment protection.”

Moving desktop phones to next level

Takeuchi said that the new solution would support the latest generation of NEC’s UNIVERGE Desktop Digital Terminals, the UNIVERGE DT300 series and UNIVERGE Desktop IP Terminals, the UNIVERGE DT700 series.

“These innovative new terminals move the standard desktop phone to the next level with an extensive feature set and modular design,” he said. “The UNIVERGE DT Series terminals provide intuitive interfaces, investment protection, SIP support, XML open interface support and productivity-enhancing features, such as menu-driven soft key functions and easy-access function keys.”

He added that the revolutionary modular design allows for combinations that fit almost any organisation’s needs. “By identifying the roles of their employees and tailoring the various communications solutions to best fit the enterprise, businesses are able to maximise productivity and enjoy high returns on investment with the UNIVERGE SV8100 and UNIVERGE SV8300 communication servers and the new modular IP and digital terminals.”
