KUALA LUMPUR, 20 NOVEMBER 2008 - Enterprise software company Oracle Corporation is the top vendor for relational database management software in Malaysia, said research consultancy IDC.

According to IDC’s study, Worldwide Relational Database Management System (RDMS) 2008, Oracle is the number 1 RDBMS vendor for SMBs (Small and Medium Businesses) and large enterprises in Malaysia with 47 per cent and 46 per cent share respectively in first half of this year, in terms of software revenue.

IDC reported that Oracle held slightly more market share than the combined total held by its two closest competitors in the large enterprise category in the first half of 2008.

Oracle ASEAN, senior director, technology business unit, Ricky Kapur said that organisations of all sizes across key industries such as manufacturing, retail, healthcare, transportation, communications, financial services, oil and energy, government and education continued to adopt or expand implementations of Oracle Database to power their critical business applications.

“Oracle is the industry’s most popular database,” said Kapur. “Customers of all company sizes are turning to Oracle Database to help them manage more data more efficiently at an affordable price.”
