KUALA LUMPUR, 7 APRIL 2009 – A new partnership will help Malaysia become a regional hub for aircraft maintenance and repair, according to business solutions firm Oracle Malaysia and Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
Oracle Malaysia managing director K. Raman said the agreement signed with Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) would develop a technology training programme for the growing aviation sector.
Universiti Teknikal MARA president Professor Dato’ Dr Abdul Hakim Juri said UniKL MIAT would combine their expertise in aviation technology with the Oracle Academy’s enterprise business applications programme to prepare students for in-demand aviation IT careers.
The Oracle Academy’s enterprise business applications programme provides university computer science departments and business schools with Oracle applications software, hosted technology and curriculum for teaching use.
Demand for high-skilled technology professionals
Oracle’s Raman said students enrolled in UniKL MIAT would have access to specialised Oracle application modules, including Oracle complex maintenance, repair and overhaul (Oracle cMRO) and an MRO service application for aerospace and defence manufacturers.
“Oracle is dedicated to preparing students for 21st century careers and to helping meet the demand for well-trained, highly-skilled technology professionals,” said Raman. “By working together, Oracle and UniKL MIAT are making a direct investment in developing Malaysia’s workforce and helping fuel growth in the aviation industry.”
“In order to maintain Malaysia’s competitive edge in a global economy, it is important for the quality of Malaysia’s graduates to match or exceed the requirements of the demanding aviation industry,” said Prof Juri. “As such, we are excited to leverage the Oracle Academy’s enterprise business applications programme to boost our students’ IT skills and knowledge.”
