Switches from manual to high-tech process By AvantiKumar

PENANG, 9 JANUARY 2009 – To speed up financial processes, Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH), a non-profit healthcare provider, has switched from a manual financial process to a high-tech solution.

Speaking at the signing ceremony with businesses analytics firm SAS Malaysia, PAH president and chief executive officer, Dato’ Teddric Jon Mohr said its finance department had been doing its financial planning and budgeting process manually, which were extensive and time-consuming.

“Many of their key resources had to be locked down on a regular basis to go through the tedious planning and budgeting process cycle,” said Mohr. “The new SAS solution would also be used to enhance planning and budgeting functionalities to address detailed business requirements to meet present and future needs,” he said.

The Malaysia-owned PAH, established in 1924, is part of an international network of more than 500 non-profit hospitals, clinics and dispensaries worldwide operating under the Adventist Health Network.

Healthcare demands the best systems

Mohr added that despite being a not-for-profit hospital, PAH invested in the best healthcare systems and medical equipments in order to deliver the best healthcare.

“The SAS Financial Management Solution would not only cut time and energy needed for budgetary and planning, but with the projected increase in business transactions volumes, our finance department would be able to act as ‘strategic advisor’ in the administration of PAH,” said Mohr.

SAS Malaysia managing director, Jimmy Cheah, said, “With the challenging times, healthcare providers are increasingly looking for ways to reduce expenses and improve operational effectiveness.”
