KUALA LUMPUR, 13 FEBRUARY 2009 – Business analytics firm SAS Malaysia expects 30 per cent customer growth in 2009, despite prevailing economic conditions.
SAS Malaysia managing director Jimmy Cheah said that 99 per cent of local customers had been retained during 2008, as well as a 2008 global revenue of US$2.26 billion, up 5.1 per cent over 2007 results.
“It is the 33rd straight year of revenue growth for the company in the worst economy most can remember,” said Cheah.
He said that rising demand for analytics, data mining and solutions was fuelled by companies’ need to retain current customers and win new ones, as well as to manage risk and optimise processes.
Growth trend to continue in 2009
Cheah said that notable clients in Malaysia for 2008 included Tesco Stores, F&N Coca Cola, EON Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, Penang Adventist Hospital, Hospital KPJ and Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri.
“Although we are projecting a softer 2009, we expect the growth trend to continue as organisations increase their need for business analytics for customer, information, risk and performance management,” he said. “In turbulent times, there is a greater need for customers to understand what drives costs, profit and value to their organisation.”
