Operator to be the second in Singapore selling Apple's popular handset By Sumner Lemon
13 Oct 2009

SINGAPORE, 13 OCTOBER 2009 - Mobile operator MobileOne (M1) has reached a deal with Apple to sell the iPhone in Singapore.

"M1 looks forward to offering iPhone and a range of tailored service plans to customers in Singapore. More information on pricing, tariffs and availability dates will be released in due course," the company said in a brief statement.

Currently, the iPhone is only offered in Singapore by rival operator Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), which began selling the handsets last year.

The iPhone handsets sold by SingTel are not locked to the carrier, but customers must sign a two-year contract when they buy one.

It's great news for the consumers! Hopefully StarHub will start selling iPhone and get back a share of SingTel iPhone dominance after losing the rights for telecast of the Barclays Premier League.
