IP pay TV service celebrates second birthday with the SingTel achievement By Ross O. Storey

SINGAPORE, 29 JUNE 2009 – Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) today has announced that its mio TV service now has more than 100,000 customers.

mio TV was launched 20 July 2007 and SingTel said it has since brought many new, innovative offerings and features to Singapore’s pay TV market, which was dominated by a single service provider for more than a decade.

The service, which works on Internet Protocol technology, allows viewers to control ‘live’ TV – rewind, pause and resume – and to programme their recordings from the Internet.  

SingTel said that mio TV offers a total of 61 channels, of which 19 are on-demand channels. Content on mio TV covers a wide range of genres and features Singapore’s largest range of video-on-demand titles and High Definition content.

The 100,000 customer milestone coincides with the service’s second birthday and to celebrate, all new and existing customers will be able given a special selection of ten movies which they can watch on-demand for free.  Additionally, for the entire month of July, all other movies from mio TV’s extensive video-on-demand selection can be purchased at $2.00 each.
