SINGAPORE, 18 JUNE 2009 – Sony Ericsson has unveiled three upcoming entertainment-focused handsets—the Satio, Aino and Yari.

The three are expected to be bundled with exclusive multimedia content, due to Sony Ericsson’s partnership with Sony Pictures, Sony Music and Gameloft. This includes games, movies, music videos and songs.

Users can also download additional content from an “extensive” content library, according to Sony Ericsson.

“Offering consumers a broad portfolio of content, from the latest movies, music and games is made possible for the first time in the industry through our strategic partnership with Sony Pictures and Sony Music,” said Hirokazu Ishizuka, corporate vice president, head of the Asia Pacific region, Sony Ericsson.

Satio

The touchscreen Satio’s main features include a 12.1 megapixel camera, 3.5-inch widescreen display (640 x 360 pixels), wi-fi, media player, bluetooth stereo, A-GPS, high definition and 3D games and applications for YouTube and Facebook.

The 112 x 55 x 13.3mm device, which weights 126 grammes, is expected to come in black, silver and bordeaux.

Aino

The Aino’s main draw is that of a media controller. A built-in function known as Remote Play with Playstation 3 allows users to control media content on their Playstation 3 gaming console using their phone. The Aino also enables consumers to synchronise the media content on their PC with their phone.

Other features of the 104 x 50 x 15.5 mm Aino, which weights 134 grammes, include an 8.1 megapixel camera, three-inch display with touch interface, wi-fi, A-GPS, bluetooth and optional wireless stereo speakers.

The Aino will be available in two colours: obsidian black and luminous white

Yari

Sony Ericsson’s Yari focuses on the gesture and motion gaming experience. Users are expected to move their bodies in order to play the various games, instead of pressing buttons on the phone. Consumers can download three games for free from a database of up to 100 games.

The Yari also features a five megapixel camera and 2.4-inch QVGA screen. The device measures 100 x 48 x 15.7 mm and weighs 111 grammes. It will come in two colours: achromatic black and cranberry white.

All three devices are expected to be available in the Asia Pacific in the final quarter of this year. Prices have not been disclosed.
