New agreement will result in enhanced collaboration By AvantiKumar

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 JUNE 2009 -- Enhanced connectivity and collaboration will be two of the benefits from a new agreement, according to Malaysian telco Telekom Malaysia and Asian network services firm Telstra International.

Telstra International senior vice president, Asia, Greg Russell, said customers of both companies would benefit from the network-to-network interconnect (NNI) agreement. “Telstra’s global customers will now have access to Telekom Malaysia’s network infrastructure with connectivity into Malaysia, Asia and the Middle East. Equally, Telekom Malaysia’s customers will have access to secure and reliable IPVPN (Internet protocol virtual personal network) globally.”

He said the new NNI between Telstra and Telekom Malaysia would enable seamless connectivity between Telstra’s and Telekom Malaysia’s networks. “This mitigates the need for expensive ‘last-mile’ connections by delivering resilient wide area network services as closely as possible to customers’ sites.”

“Now more than ever, multinational companies need to be able to interconnect and collaborate with their business partners and branch offices in every corner of the globe,” said Russell.

“Telstra International sees this NNI as an opportunity to deliver even more cost-effective and reliable network services for our corporate customers and in doing so help them to drive productivity while managing costs,” he said.
