KUALA LUMPUR, 22 JUNE 2009 – Thanks to a new Internet protocol node, Malaysian companies now have access to a dedicated global business network, according to communications firm Verizon.

Verizon Business vice president, strategy and finance, Tony Skiadas, said the global communications needs of Malaysia-based companies will be enhanced by dedicated access to Verizon Business’ global IP network.  “The new enhancements are available thanks to a new Malaysian Internet protocol (IP) node, jointly established with Telekom Malaysia (TM) to support the delivery of advanced data services in the country.”

“TM customers with multinational operations will gain seamless access to Verizon Business’ expansive global network and solutions; Verizon Business customers with operations in the Malaysian market will likewise be able to benefit from TM’s extensive local market expertise,” said Skiadas.

Verizon owns and operates extensive IP backbone networks around the world and delivers Internet protocol-based enterprise communications.

Largest local-to-global IP networks

Skiadas said Malaysian customers can choose dedicated ethernet Internet access options with speeds ranging from E1 (1.544 megabits per second) up through GigE (1 gigabit per second). “These offer high-performance, always-on, high-bandwidth dedicated Internet access with extensive bandwidth, configuration and billing options designed to suit specific business needs.”

“Verizon owns and operates one of the world's largest local-to-global IP networks, spanning more than 150 countries on six continents, and we are constantly working to enhance access to that network through a combination of wholly owned infrastructure, local and global service and support teams, and strategic relationships in key markets,” he said.

“The Asia-Pacific region is a key investment location for many of our multinational customers, and has a significant number of companies already operating in, or expanding into, the global marketplace,” said Skiadas. “This announcement is a further endorsement of the strength of our global Internet availability, and we are delighted to be able to build on the collective skills and network capabilities of Verizon Business and Telekom Malaysia to enhance our service portfolio in the local market.”
