HONG KONG, 3 JUNE 2009 – Vietnam Data Communications has established a virtual private network in Vietnam, together with CPCNet Hong Kong. The first point of presence will be ready for operations in Ho Chi Minh City in July.
Vietnam Data Communications (VDC), established in 1989, is a member of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group and one of the telecommunication service providers in Vietnam. CPCNet Hong Kong is a Hong Kong-based communications and security solutions provider, and a wholly owned subsidiary of CITIC 1616 Holdings.
According to the foreign investment agency under the ministry of planning and investment, Vietnam attracted more than US$64 billion worth of foreign direct investment in 2008, up almost 200 per cent against the same period last year. Investors from 50 countries and territories have invested in Vietnam, including those from Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea.
According to Joel Ma, executive vice president of CPCNet, the partnership will provide Vietnam and the Greater China with a seamless MPLS VPN network and deliver converged IP services to enterprises with end-to-end quality of service (QoS) across the two countries.
Hoang Minh Cuong, deputy director of VDC said: “[CPCNet’s] strategic position is beneficial to us as we see an increasing demand from our customers who are looking for strong connectivity to Greater China. Through this partnership, our customers can now expect the same high-quality performance and service throughout a reliable network which has an extensive coverage across Greater China to the Asia Pacific.”
