SYDNEY, 28 JANUARY 2009 - Virtualisation software maker VMware has reported a 42 per cent increase in annual revenue to $US1.9 billion, ending the 2008 financial year with a strong fourth quarter.
For the fourth quarter of 2008, VMware saw revenue increase 25 per cent compared to the same quarter last year, to $US515 million.
Net income for the fourth quarter was $US111 million, up from $US78 million in the same quarter last year.
For the full year, revenue from the US grew 37 per cent from 2007 to $US988 million and international revenue grew 48 per cent to $US893 million. Software licence revenue came to $US1.2 billion, and service revenue for the full year was $US703 million.
VMware estimated total revenue for the first quarter of 2009 at $US475 million.
VMware chief executive officer Paul Maritz said the company was making solid progress on three initiatives - to build virtualisation in the data centre, the cloud and desktop. (MIS Australia)
