Toshiba’s Portege M900 to debut next month in Singapore By Melissa Chua

SINGAPORE, 09 JUNE 2009 – Toshiba has announced its latest ultra portable laptop, the 13.3-inch Portege M900. The device, due to hit Singapore in July, is aimed at consumers who are frequently on the go.

The Portege M900 weighs around 2.15kg and comes in four different colours: signature brown, white, red and pink. Dimensions are 317mm x 230.6mm x 38.2mm.

The device is powered by Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor P8700, 2 gigabytes of system memory and uses ATI’s mobility radeon HD4570, with 512MB of video RAM, for its graphics processor.

Both the chassis and interior of the Portege M900 come coated with a textured finishing.

Other features of the Portege M900 include:

•    Toshiba’s hard drive protection with 3D motion sensor, which prevents hard drive damage by parking the hard drive head once overt motion is detected

•    Toshiba’s SmartFace technology, which allows users to log on using facial recognition software

•    Fingerprint sensor for security

•    Toshiba’s REGZA – Link, a high-definition multimedia interface consumer electronics control, which allows users to operate the machine using a remote control meant for other consumer electronic devices

•    An eSATA/USB combo port which allows devices to be charged even if the notebook is switched off

•    A built-in high-definition Web camera

•    2 USB 2.0 ports

•    Bluetooth 2.1

•    5-in-1 card reader

•    Wireless LAN

•    Gigabit LAN

The Portege M900 is expected to be sold at S$1,699 (US$1,167) in Singapore.
