The recently-launched public cloud service, called OneCloud, by Malaysian Internet service provider JARING Communications (JARING) has achieved VMware vCloud powered status, which denotes enterprise-class service.
Speaking on 27 September 2011, JARING chief executive officer Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Yaacob said the OneCloud public cloud service is underpinned by virtualisation and cloud computing technologies such as VMware vSphere and VMware vCloud Director. "As a member of the VMware Service Provider Programme (VSPP), JARING provides its OneCloud VMware vCloud Powered service as a set of cloud computing services across a common platform, supporting the largest set of existing applications and offering distinctive application mobility uniquely available from VMware."
"The partnership with VMware has enabled JARING to offer enterprise-class cloud infrastructure services into the market and allow customers to easily build secured virtual private and hybrid clouds," said Nik Abdul.
"Since the launch of JARING's OneCloud service in July, the company has seen tremendous response from the market, especially the medium and large enterprises from the financial, media and government sectors that demand strong service level agreements (SLAs) and higher security in cloud infrastructure services," he said.
JARING sought the VMware vCloud validation to offer enterprises a simple, cost-effective transition of workloads into a cloud environment.
"The VMware vCloud Powered programme was developed to enable our service provider partners to differentiate themselves and help them bring their enterprise-class cloud services to market in this competitive landscape," said VMware general manager, ASEAN, Ed Lenta. "We look forward to supporting JARING further as it delivers on the agility and performance customers are looking for in the cloud computing landscape."
