The Mi 12 Ultra looks ready to receive an oversized camera array

Xiaomi's success may be due to its affordable but powerful entry-level and mid-range phones, but the company has long since moved beyond those devices and is producing some of the most intriguing and unique flagship products in the industry. For example, the Mi 11 Ultra has a unique display on the back. It seems the company wants to continue that legacy with the upcoming Mi 12 Ultra, which should feature an equally unique camera array.

Xiaomi hasn't officially released the 12 Ultra yet, but thanks to examples of rendering that have surfaced on Twitter, Dutch blog LetsGoDigital let us know what the company's next flagship product will look like. Unlike previous generations of square bump cameras, the 12 Ultra should have a circular array that sits on a square platform and can accommodate up to four lenses. It seems to be one of the largest arrays we've ever seen, giving us a strong feel for the Nokia Lumia 1020.
As for the technical details, rumors are largely to blame. It makes sense that the Mi 11 Ultra uses a 5-megapixel wide-angle camera from Samsung's Isocell GN5. The other three lenses will likely also be equipped with high pixels if past Xiaomi flagships are anything to judge. We might see a combination of different zoom lenses. There are also a few more notches and positions for further sensors, although these spots are more likely to be used for flash, color sensors, and autofocus than for more lenses.
