Aluminium oxide, an inorganic compound with the chemical name Al2O3, is an inorganic material. This high-hardness compound has a melting point at 2054 °C and boiling point at 2980 °C. It can be ionized at very high temperatures, and is commonly used for the production of refractory substances.
Alumina for industrial use is made from diaspore, bauxite (3H2O3) and Al2O3*3H2O3. Chemical methods are used to prepare Al2O3 for high purity. It is possible to find Al2O3 in many forms.
