Siderosis of Iron Oxides

What is Iron oxide?

Iron oxides can be found within a wide range of forms in nature, the common species, such as hematite (α-Fe2O3), magnetite (Fe3O4), and maghemite (γ-Fe2O3). Recently, a large body of research has been allocated to fabricating and using iron oxide NPs (IONPs) revolving around new features and goals due to their nano-size, the ratio of high SSA to volume, and superparamagnetism. The potential of working with matters on an atomic scale and the facilitation of synthesis, coating, or modification can bring about unprecedented options. Moreover, paired with the potentials of the biotechnology field, IONPs that enjoy biocompatibility, low toxicity, and chemical inertness can prove rather quite useful. FeO/Fe3O4

Iron oxides are the systems that have been most studied for two-step thermochemical cycles. The reasons are their availability, performance, and Price. The simplest system is FeO/Fe3O4. Using concentrated solar energy at temperatures above 1600 °C, iron(III) oxide (Fe3O4) can be reduced to iron(II) oxide (FeO). Followed by the exothermic reaction of iron(II) oxide and water at much lower temperatures, hydrogen and iron(III) oxide are generated. The overall efficiency of an ideal Carnot system is reported to be between 50.7 and 62.5%. However, this would drop to 20.4–25.1% for an operating system depending on the concentration of the solar radiation coupled into the reactor. The lower values are for a concentration factor of 5000, and the higher ones are for 10 000. To achieve these concentrations, rather complicated optics are necessary that will limit the yearly availability of the plant. However, with activated iron-based redox systems, the reaction temperature for the two-step water-splitting process can be reduced, and less advanced solar systems could be used.

Siderosis of Iron oxides

Accumulation of iron oxide in macrophages in the lung results in siderosis (welder siderosis or arc welder pneumoconiosis), commonly found in workers exposed to metal fumes during welding. Radiographic analysis typically reveals small nodules in the perihilar regions, which do not indicate reactive fibrosis, apart from accumulations of iron particles in macrophages aggregated along perivascular and peribronchial lymphatic vessels. These pathologic changes are reversible, with complete resolution possible after the cessation of exposure. While siderosis is not generally associated with fibrosis or functional impairment, inhaling iron and a substantial quantity of silica leads to silicosiderosis, which may show pulmonary fibrosis.

Price of Iron oxide

Iron oxide particle size and purity will affect the product's Price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of Iron oxide. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The Price of Iron oxide is on our company's official website.
