AlB2 (binary compound) is formed from aluminum and boren. Normal temperature and pressure will result in a grayish black powder. The surface gloss is lost when it’s heated. It remains stable in cold dilute acid.

Dilute hydrochloric Acid can dissolve aluminum diboride to make a reduced solution. It may also contain HBOH+. AlB2 will not dissolve in dilute sulfuric, but it is easily soluble with nitric acids.
