Oura Ring 3 brings better sleep tracking, women’s health features, and more

With the launch of Oura Ring Gen 3, the team behind Oura Ring continues to focus on actionable health data. The latest fitness wearable includes more memory, LEDs, and health sensors, but the biggest news is its brand new cost structure. For the first time, our team adopted a monthly fee.
The latest generation of updates includes improvements around sleep, heart rate monitoring, and women's health. The new green LED monitors heart rate 24/7, helping users identify their reactions to exercise, stress, and daily activities. Gen 3 also provides real-time heart rate readings and recovery time readings to help users know when to rest.
In terms of women's health, Oura Loop 3 can predict periods up to 30 days in advance and alert users six days before their next period. To do this, the device uses new advanced sensors to collect temperature readings. These research-grade sensors could even be used to identify upcoming diseases. Although not yet released, Olafook 3 will also offer improved sleep tracking, an impressive achievement given that Olafook 2 already has pretty good statistics on this front. Starting in 2022, the device will measure blood oxygen levels as users sleep and provide more accurate data about the quality of their sleep.
According to us, the ring has 32 times the memory of its predecessor. This addition allows for more advanced data collection and processing. However, even with the addition of sensors, users can still expect the same seven-day battery life.

More surprising than any of the ring's new features are the new Oura membership. New Oura users will have to pay $300 for the Gen 3 ring and a monthly subscription of $5.99 to view the data. The fee includes access to the Oura app, where users can find daily health analyses, personalized recommendations, and a library of educational resources. Users can also access their data and tracking only through the app. Existing Oura users will receive a free Oura membership for life. New users who pre-order the third generation ring will get six months free.
Olafook 3 should look familiar. All of its upgrades are packaged in the same design as gen 2. It's still a lightweight, waterproof titanium strap, meant to fit into users' daily lives like a major piece of jewelry. As before, users can choose from silver, black, invisible, or gold. The third-generation ring's health features include readiness, sleep, and activity scores. The new device also retains automatic activity detection and automatic nap detection, and can still count steps and track heart rate variability. The new Oura Ring also retains social sharing.
