How does Tellurium Oxide TeO2 (TeO2) powder get made?
Use nitric, or any mixture thereof, to get the original Tellurium Acid. Next, convert the original Tellurium Acid with strong Hydrochloric acid to tellurium Tetrachloride. Finally, remove the remaining impurities after Alkali neutralization. This will allow you to precipitate out tellurium Oxid. It is a long process and will produce a significant amount of NO2 and NO3 gas.
By reacting tellurium to O2, paratellurite is made.
Te + O2
An alternative preparation would be to heat decompose tellurium citrate at 400°C, or dehydrate tellurous acids, H2TeO3, and to make tellurous acid.
