It forms a binary phase in 11.7% of silicon, with a melting points of 577degC. The ductility of an aluminum-silicon alloy is best when it has a low silicon content (such 0.7). It is also more malleable and can often be used to deform other alloys. But, when it contains more silicon (such 7%), it fills the melt better and is frequently used for Cast alloy.

When the aluminum-silicon alloys have a silicon content greater than 12.6% (silicon particle content as high as 14.5% or 25%), adding some Ni, Cu, Mg, and other elements to the alloy can increase Its complete mechanical properties.
