The molten salt-assisted heat reduction of magnesium to make high quality HfSi2 was the key to producing powder.
The high-purity HfSi2 was produced using an HfO2/Si raw material. It studied the impact of time and reaction temperature on HfSi2 creation. Scanning electron microscopy (TEM), transmission electron microscopy (X-ray Diffraction) and nitrogen/oxygen testing were used to characterize the HfSi2 powder’s morphology. These results showed that HfSi2 powder is orthogonal in structure and has a oxygen content of 0.20%. These results can be used as a guideline to produce a powder of high-purity silica transition metal silicide.
