Titanium Sulfide (TiS2) Powder

Titanium disulfide

Is an inorganic compound.

Titanium sulfide formula

Is TiS2. Brassy, scaly, crystal metallic luster.

Titanium sulfide density

The density of sulfuric acid is 3.22g/mL. The sulfur is decomposed by concentrated sulfuric acid or nitric acid. The lithium is interbedded with the titanium disulfide, and its composition varies between x=0-1. This makes it a non-stoichiometric and ideal compound.

Titanium sulphide

The powder is yellow or gray and has an unpleasant smell. It’s used as a solid grease. Contact with the substance can lead to burns on the skin, mucous membranes, or eyes. It is toxic when ingested, inhaled or absorbed through the skin.

Titanium disulfide

has a layered structure, each of which consists of a sulfur-titanium-sulfur interlayer connected by a weak van der Waals force. Crystals can grow from titanium wires heated with sulfur vapor. They can also be synthesized through the reaction between titanium tetrachloride (or tetrachloride) and hydrogen sulfide. The lithium is interbedded within the titanium disulfide, and its composition varies between x=0-1. This makes it a non-stoichiometric material.

Inorganic titanium disulfide has the molecular form TiS2. Highly conductive golden yellow material belonging to the group called transition metals halogens. The stoichiometric units is ME2.

TiS2 is being used

Cathode materials are used in rechargeable battery.

How is Titanium Sulfide (TiS2) Powder Produced

Titanium disulfide can be prepared by reacting elements at 500 degC.

Ti + TiS2

The product can be synthesized more easily from titanium tetrachloride but is less pure.

TiCl4 – 2 H2S – TiS2 – 4 HCl

Chemical vapor deposition has been used to form TiS2 films. In place of hydrogensulfide, thiols and disulfides organic can be used.

There are many other types of titanium sulfides.

Applications

Titanium Sulfide (TiS2) Powder

:

In 1973, it was suggested that titanium disulfide could be used as a cathode for rechargeable battery. High electrical conductivity has drawn attention to the Groups V and IV halogen compound. The original battery was described using a lithium cathode and anode. The battery’s energy density is high. It is also reversible.

Titanium disulfide is the lightest chalcogenide and also the cheapest.

The fastest Lithium-ion diffusion occurs in Titanium Disulfide.

The degradation of the cathode is the main issue. The battery is charged by this reversible inserting process. The titanium disulfide layer is also the lightest, cheapest and most compact of the layered dihalides of the IV and V group.

In the 1990s titanium disulfide (and other cathode substances such as manganese oxide and chromium oxide) were used in rechargeable batteries.

TiS2 cathodes are used in solid state lithium batteries. Most lithium-ion cells use liquid electrolytes that can be flammable, posing safety concerns. There have been a number of solid electrolytes proposed to replace the hazardous liquid electrolytes.

The high resistance at the interface reduces intercalation reversibility for most solid-state battery types and reduces service life. TIS2 is less affected by these unwanted interface effects. The all-solid state lithium battery has a power density of 1000 W/kg, and its maximum power density after 50 cycles is 1.5 kW/kg. The average battery capacity decreased by less than 10 percent in 50 cycles. While titanium disulfide batteries have high conductivity, energy density, and power, their discharge voltage is lower than other lithium batteries.

Store Titanium Sulfide (TiS2) Powder in the Following Conditions:

Titanium Sulfide powder TiS2 will be affected by dampness, which can affect the performance of TiS2 powder and its use. Therefore, Titanium Sulfide titanium Sulfide should be packed in vacuum and kept in a dry and cool room. TiS2 powder must also not be exposed to stress.
