As a low-foam detergent or defoamer. F68, L64 and L61 are used to prepare high-foam detergents. The wetting agent polyether can be used to dye fabrics, develop photographs and electroplate them. Polyether has been used as a dispersant for emulsion coating, and F68 as an emulsifier for vinyl acetate-emulsion polymerization. L62 and L64 may be used for agricultural preparations and as coolants or lubricants in metal grinding and cutting.
The polyether can be used to de-muzzle crude oil. Both L64 and the F68 can prevent hard scale from forming in oil pipes and are also used for secondary oil extraction. F68 improves the quality of coated papers when used with polyether.
