Market Leaders Dominate MIS Asia’s Strategic 100 Index Once Again

The list of the world’s top-performing and most influential ICT vendors and service providers is replete with the industry’s trusted brands.

SINGAPORE, NOVEMBER 21, 2011 - MIS Asia, the region’s authority on enterprise information and communications technology (ICT) leadership, has released its annual index of the world’s top ICT vendors and service providers.

Industry giants and communications firms dominate, again. Also in are leading consulting houses and system integrators such as Accenture Plc, ATOS S.A., Capgemini, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd, Ernst & Young Global Ltd, HCL Technologies Ltd, Infosys Ltd, Mahindra Satyam, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, NCS Pte Ltd and Tech Mahindra Ltd.

A select panel of judges comprising technology practitioners, academicians and consultants, evaluated all nominated organisations based on the following criteria: IT industry leadership; product and service innovation; strategic role/s played in the global enterprise IT market; contribution/s made to IT industry development; and, financial performance in the past fiscal year.

They then selected those with the highest scores for placement in the categories: Global 75 (for those with a global footprint); Regional 20 (for those who clearly dominate in Asia); and Rising Stars (for the five fairly young companies that appear to be driving major technology developments and deployment trends, moving forward).

"I would like to congratulate our Strategic 100 honourees this year for doing an exceptionally good job at delivering top dollar value to their customers and for their numerous contributions to enterprise ICT development worldwide," said Mark Hobson, Asia Regional Manager, Fairfax Business Media Pte Ltd, the publisher of MIS Asia. "I also applaud them for showing industry leadership, particularly in driving R&D and deployment of sustainable ICT and in practising, themselves, corporate responsibility in the management of their people. They gave to their customers, but not at the expense of their employees. That’s a monumental task they performed."

The vast majority of honourees in the Global 75 category are based in the US: represented by 45 companies (including Check Point Software Technologies Ltd, which has two headquarters - Tel Aviv, Israel, and, Redwood City, CA, the US). Asia is represented by 18 companies (including Lenovo, which has no global headquarters, but has two out of its three principal operations in Singapore and the People’s Republic of China). And Europe is represented by 11 companies—four based in the United Kingdom, three in Germany, two in France, one in the Republic of Ireland, and one in Sweden.

In the Regional 20 category, the People’s Republic of China (PRC) leads with a total of nine honourees—out of which seven are based in Hong Kong SAR. Singapore is represented by five industry giants with a global reach - Pacnet Ltd (which has its headquarters in Singapore as well as Hong Kong SAR, PRC) NCS Pte Ltd, Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd, Singapore Telecommunications Ltd and StarHub Ltd. Three companies represent Malaysia - Celcom Axiata Berhad, Sunway Technology Sdn Bhd, and Telekom Malaysia

Berhad. India – which has five honourees under the Global 75 - is represented in this regional category solely by Tech Mahindra Ltd; Indonesia by PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk; the Philippines by Philippines Long Distance Telephone Co.; and, Thailand by Advanced Info Service PCL.

The dynamic five companies named under Rising Stars are: business software developer Singapore-based Elixir Technology Pte Ltd; Chennai, India-based independent software testing firm Maveric Systems Ltd; US business analytics vendor Revolution Analytics, Inc.; US specialised cloud computing management solutions provider RightScale Inc.; and, Singapore-based information security vendor TrustSphere.

This year's Strategic 100 honourees are being feted at an event in Hong Kong at the Pier 7 Café & Bar on November 23, and in Singapore at ARDENT'S Cafe Bar on December 8.
