What is copper oxide?
Copper oxide is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula CuO, a black copper oxide, slightly amphoteric and slightly hygroscopic. [1] Insoluble in water and ethanol, easily soluble in acids, thermally stable, and decomposes into oxygen at high temperatures. [1] Copper oxide is mainly used in producing rayon, ceramics, glazes and enamels, batteries, petroleum desulfurizes, insecticides, hydrogen production, catalysts, green glass, etc.
Industrial production of copper oxide
Copper powder oxidation method: Using copper ash and copper slag as raw materials, they are roasted and heated with coal gas for preliminary oxidation to remove moisture and organic impurities from the raw materials. The primary oxide generated is naturally cooled, crushed, and subjected to secondary oxidation to obtain crude copper oxide. The natural copper oxide is added to a reactor pre-loaded with 1:1 sulfuric acid, and is heated and stirred until the relative density of the liquid is one time the original. The reaction end point is reached when the pH value is 2-3. A copper sulfate solution is generated. After it is left to clarify, iron shavings are added under heating and stirring conditions, and copper is replaced. Then, hot water is used to wash it until there is no sulfate or iron. After centrifugation, they are dried, oxidized, and roasted at 450 ℃ for 8 hours, cooled, crushed to 100 mesh, and then oxidized in an oxidation furnace to obtain copper oxide powder. Copper nitrate thermal decomposition method: Dissolve electrolytic copper in dilute nitric acid, evaporate it to dryness in a water bath, and then heat it very slowly from 90 ℃ to 120 ℃ in a dryer. When soft alkaline salts are generated, they are boiled in water, filtered, and dried; Then, slowly heat to 400 ℃ to remove most of the nitric acid; After crushing, heat it to 850 ℃ for one h to decompose it into copper oxide. To make the reaction more complete, the product can be pulverized again, heated for 1 hour at about 700 ℃, and then cooled in a dryer.
Main uses of copper oxide
It can be used as an organic synthesis catalyst, analytical reagent (for nitrogen determination), oxidant, motivation, and petroleum desulfurized, and for determining carbon in organic compounds. Used as a colorant in the glass, enamel, and ceramic industries, as an anti-wrinkle agent for paints, and as a polishing agent for optical glass. They are used to manufacture dyes, organic catalyst carriers, and copper compounds. It is also used in rayon manufacturing and as a desulfurized for fats and oils. It is used as a raw material for the manufacture of other copper salts and also for the manufacture of artificial gemstones. Uses of nano copper oxide: It is widely used as an essential inorganic material in catalysis, superconductivity, ceramics, etc. Used as a catalyst, catalyst carrier, and active electrode material and used as a colorant for glass and porcelain, an optical glass polishing agent, a catalyst for organic synthesis, a desulfurized for oils, and a hydrogenation agent.
Hazards of copper oxide
Health hazards: Inhaling large amounts of copper oxide smoke can cause metal smoke heat, chills, elevated body temperature, and respiratory tract irritation. After long-term exposure, irritation of the respiratory tract and conjunctiva, epistaxis, bleeding spots or ulcers in the nasal mucosa, even perforation of the nasal septum and dermatitis can be seen, and gastrointestinal symptoms can also occur. It has been reported that long-term inhalation can also cause lung fibrous tissue hyperplasia. Flammability and explosion hazard: This product is non-flammable and belongs to a stable substance with no odor and a dark brown color.
Price of copper oxide
Copper oxide particle size and purity will affect the product's Price, and the purchase volume can also affect the cost of copper oxide. A large amount of large amount will be lower. The Price of copper oxide is on our company's official website.
