Manganese dioxide

An inorganic compound that has the chemical formula of MnO2 and is either black amorphous, or black orthorhombic, crystals. It is also used as an antioxidant and rust removal agent.

For the manufacture of metal manganese, special alloys and ferromanganese-castings as well as gas masks and electronic material ferrites.

Additionally, manganese dioxide can be used to enhance the viscosity in rubber and as a catalyst for chemical experiments.
