Over the past three years, compact flagships have been largely ignored by businesses and consumers, especially in the Android camp. However, Apple is once again driving the trend of compact smartphones following the launch of the iPhone 12 Mini last year and the iPhone 13 Mini in 2021. Xiaomi is looking to compete in the compact flagship category, as well as new promotional images confirming the Mi 12 is the company's first compact flagship since the Mi Mi 9 SE in years.
Popular benchmark website Antutu recently shared official promotional images of the Mi Mi 12 series on its Weibo account, saying that the mi Mi 12 series is available in two sizes, both of which are described as flagship products in the smartphone sector.
Antutu described the Mi 12 in its announcement as a smaller and more compact flagship phone. However, it is not stingy with being the prerequisite for a flagship smartphone, and it aims to provide an outstanding one-handed use experience for a flagship smartphone. The Mi 12 Pro, on the other hand, is the big brother, aiming to provide the ultimate multimedia experience with a bigger screen, bigger battery, and bigger sound system.
It was revealed earlier this week that the Mi 12 series will be launched on December 28 at 19:30 CST, and from what we've gathered so far, there will be three models, namely the Mi 12, the Mi 12 Pro, and the Mi 12X.
Under the cover, the Mi 12 and 12 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, while the listing shows the Mi 12X with the Snapdragon 870. In terms of charging speed, the Mi 12 and 12X are expected to support a fast charge of 67W, while the Mi 12 Pro may offer 120W. Speaking of software, the Mi 12 series will come pre-loaded with Android 12 and MIUI 13.
