Industrial-grade Boron nitride is a pure white ceramic material with the hexagonal structure of a crystal similar to graphite. The material can stand temperatures of more than 2,000 degC. Depending upon the grade, its dielectric strengths are close to 1000 volts/millimeter. It is particularly suitable for use as a coating of window material such as zinc selenide(ZnSe)and zinc sulfide(ZnS).In out of that, it has good resistance to thermal shock and is hard, and is predicted to become one of the best window materials for high power detection and lasers.
