Click “Delete Account,” enter your password, and confirm. Done. But wait: it takes up to 30 days for Facebook to erase your data. During this time, don’t log in. If you do, they’ll cancel your deletion request faster than you can type “Oops.”

Clean up leftover apps. You probably used Facebook to log into Spotify, Tinder, or that meditation app you forgot about. After deleting Facebook, those logins might break. Update your accounts with an email or phone number now. Check apps under “Settings & Privacy” > “Settings” > “Apps and Websites” to see where you’ve used Facebook login. Remove them one by one.
