As hot water is heated and compressed inside the reactor, it causes the fuel rods to expand and heat up. When the temperature reaches a certain point, the fuel rods are ignited by nuclear reactions that occur within them.
The resulting heat can be transferred to a turbine, where it turns into mechanical energy that drives the blades of a generator. The generator converts the mechanical energy into electrical energy, which can be transmitted over long distances through transmission lines or installed directly in homes and businesses.
One of the key advantages of nuclear power is its relatively low greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil fuels. While the production of electricity does release some greenhouse gases, these emissions are much lower than those associated with burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas.
